What is Secure Key?
We take your online safety very seriously. If you use online banking, our Secure Key gives you added protection against the threat of fraud. As well as your normal username and passwords, you’ll generate a temporary code from your device, so you can access your full range of online banking services.
We are one of the first banks in Bahrain to introduce such a device, which is easy to use and provides added protection by generating a new security code each time you use it, to help ensure only you can access your online banking.

How does a Secure Key work?
The Secure Key generates a temporary code which you then use to access online banking and as an extra level of security for certain actions performed through online. We recommend using a Digital Secure Key as it is available on most models of phones, but if your device is not compatible you can use a Physical Secure Key1.
Once you activate your Digital Secure Key, your physical Secure Key will stop working. So that's one less thing you need to carry around.
To generate the code, you need a PIN or password known only by you - or you can use biometrics if your device has these features. The Secure Key means only you can access your accounts.

Compatible devices
You can set up a Digital Secure Key on Android mobile devices and Apple mobile devices running up-to-date software. You'll first need the HSBC Bahrain app, which you can download on all Android and Apple devices running up-to-date software.
Should you wish to keep using your separate physical Secure Key please be aware that you will no longer be able to access the mobile banking app. You will only be able to access online banking via your browser.
